Sunscreen Sprays and Open Flames
The FDA is warning consumers to avoid open flames when applying or wearing sunscreen sprays. The agency has become aware of five separate incidents in which people wearing sunscreen spray near sources of flame suffered significant burns that required medical treatment. Although the specific products reported to have been used in those cases were voluntarily recalled from the market, many other sunscreen spray products contain flammable ingredients, commonly alcohol.
